When the levee breaks (Quando l’argine si rompe) è l’ottava e ultima traccia del quarto album dei Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV, pubblicato l’8 novembre del 1971. Il brano prende spunto dall’omonima canzone dal duo musicale blues costituito da Kansas Joe McCoy e Memphis Minnie nel 1929. La canzone è incentrata principalmente su quando, nella prima metà del 1927, in seguito alla Grande Alluvione del Mississippi, più di 13.000 persone fuggirono dalla cittadina di Greenville nei pressi di un vicino argine ancora integro. Il tumulto che sarebbe stato causato se questo ed altri argini avessero ceduto è il filo conduttore della canzone.
